Starting tomorrow, I have the wonderful opportunity to see at least one art event a day until June 2nd. Living in Charleston during Spoleto USA and Piccolo Spoleto is such a blessing. I cannot wait for this city to become just one big art celebration! I’ve heard that art is literally everywhere (visual artists and marching bands even take over the streets). I’ve already started planning what I’m going to attend, and I’m going to try to post on here daily what I experience.
Rewind a little bit: I’m currently taking a Maymester Spoleto class. It’s actually an art class designed for newcomers to art (an easy Humanities credit for Biology, Math, Health Sciences majors, etc). But I’m taking it for the guest speakers. Set designers of operas, Alvin Ailey dancers, opera singers, choral conductors, you name it come and talk to our class. Tomorrow we’re even getting to go to the dress rehearsal of Kepler for free. So pumped.
Anywho, I hope to document everything I attend over the next week and a half. And if you have no idea what Spoleto USA or Piccolo Spoleto is, please please please click the links below! Here’s a start: America’s internationally known 2 week long art festival.
