Tonight was a great night. This semester is going so well, and it’s all because of God. I’m having great times with my friends, signed a lease for a house for next year, love my classes, have a job and source of income, and feel God in my life. He’s drawing me closer to Him, He’s drawing me spiritually closer to my friends. Which is a little scary and nervous, because I’m not much of a person who opens up easily. But when I do, oh man do I talk. But I know this is good for me, great for me to be able to be there for people who need a friend or a spiritual advisor. Gosh, God is so great.
The past few days of my life, with a funny conversation to wrap it all up.
Wednesday- Madison, Anna, and I thought we were going to casually look at a few houses with a landlady, but instead, the first house we saw, was perfect. We wanted it. And it was so affordable! Such a great situation God prepared for me- I know great things will come from the relationships I’ll form next year with my roomies Madison, Leah, and Anna. Wednesday night Zac and I did all the homework we had to do, and it was actually kinda relaxing just sitting there across the table from him, doing my work.
Thursday- Signed the lease for our house (what?!) This day was a busy one. Islamic Art History class, lease signing, Caviar and Bananas with Madison, hasty library run to print my paper, Art Management class, a second hasty library run to print more papers, Geology lab, McDonalds for dinner with Zac, George’s play with Anna and Corey (WOW George is such a good actor!), and then a little time hanging with Zac.
Friday- Wowzers. Another busy one. Econ class, French class, kudu coffee date with my new friend Claire, standing in line starting at 11:30 to see Stephen Colbert on campus. Yes, Stephen Colbert came to College of Charleston to just chat it up about the Republican primary that happened today. It was great, watch it on youtube if you can. I’m sure it’s there. After that great mixture of gospel choir, marching band, stephen and herman cain singing, Gina and Sydney and I headed to good ole Chick-fil-la for some deliciousness. Then Zac and I hung out for a while, then went to a exhibit opening at the Halsey gallery, then to Caviar and Bananas again with Jacob, then went to an awesome contemporary classical music concert. We then proceeded to the hobbit hole where more wonderful friends were and we just hung out.
As I said, tonight was a great night. I worked from 2:30 to 7, but Stephen and David were in town for the day so after work we went to Toast. It was simply delicious. Chocolate chip pancakes and cheesy grits all day. We then came home to find Anna, Julia, Sydney, Kenny, Jacob, Madison, and Zane chillin in the hobbit hole. We laughed, told stories, listened to Anna and Jacob talk in their little kid voices, made new inside jokes, visited the frat party upstairs (which was actually really really fun), and got a lot closer to each other. We all became a close knit group of brothers and sisters in Christ. It was so so great.
To end this long post (whenever I write it’s always long, always), here is an excerpt from my frat party experience. While walking down the back stairs to leave, I had this conversation with a (to me) complete stranger. Jacob was with me and Madison, Zane, Zac, and Anna were still upstairs.
stranger: “you’re the girlfriend of the RA!”
me: “yeah, i am!”
stranger: “you guys both have curly hair! man, he listens to sick ass music! i learned about 3 sick ass bands from him. i see you guys walking down the street together all the time. you guys are a great couple.”
me: “aw, thanks, that’s so nice of you!”
stranger: “how long have y’all been dating now?”
me: “almost two years”
stranger: “aw dang, that’s precious.”
